The sheriff’s office maintains a Special Response Team (SRT) of 13 specially trained deputies who respond to major incidents and high risk warrants. SRT members are well equipped with safety, tactical and evidence collection materials to help them effectively manage these events.  A fully equipped Crime Scene Van is available to provide equipment and transportation for team members as well as an incident command post. Through a cooperative agreement with the Maine State Tactical Team, the SRT is pre-deployed to tactical calls in any community in Penobscot County in which the Tactical Team has been requested.  The SRT will work with the requesting police department to stabilize the scene and take any necessary immediate action until the arrival of the Tactical Team.  The SRT has trained police negotiators who will work in conjunction with State Police negotiators in incidents requiring this expertise.Team Commander- Chief Deputy Troy Morton 947-4585
