The Records Division manages all of the data and police investigative reports. Three clerical specialists enter police reports into
the Penobscot County Law Enforcement System (PSIMS). This division accepts reports generated by deputies over their laptop computers
in their cruisers, and they enter them into the records system. Some police reports are generated on paper forms, and these are data
entered into the system. Accident reports are now being generated in the cruisers using Maine Crash Reporting software on the laptop
computers. Accident reports are exported to the State using the PSIMS system. Because of the confidential nature of information being
reviewed in this division, all secretaries are required to submit to a polygraph examination prior to hire. The candidate must have
excellent typing skills, be 21 years of age or older, have computer experience, and be dependable.
