Lt. Golden was promoted to the position of Assistant Jail Administrator with the rank of Lieutenant in 2003. There are two Assistant
Jail Administrators, one with the responsibility of security and the other the responsibility of inmate programs. While each Lieutenant
is responsible for all operations during their watch, Lt Golden oversees the security aspect of the day to day operations. Linda
was hired by the Penobscot County Jail in 1987 as a part-time corrections officer and was hired full time in 1988. She graduated
with top honors from the 63rd class of the Maine Criminal Justice Corrections Academy in 1988. Linda continued to broaden her
law enforcement knowledge by attending the 100-hour reserve officers training school at the MCJA in 1989. During 1989 Linda Golden
was promoted to Corporal in charge of Intake at the booking area of the jail. In 1991-92 she received specilized training in
FBI basic fingerprint classification and latent fingerprint recovery techniques at MCJA. In 1996 she earned a promotion to Sergeant
when the supervision of the transport division was added to her duties. This division is responsible for the movement of prisoners
to the courts for hearings, to other jails across the state as housing conditions dictate and to the many appointments inmate are
required to attend. In the year 2002 the transport division made 747 trips involving 1,419 inmates to various other courts,
jails and medical appointments, traveling a total of 76,176 miles.
Lt. Golden is active in implementing new policies
and procedures and monitoring compliance with the standards as established by the Department of Corrections.
