Penobscot County Sheriff's Office
Identification Division
The Identification Officer manages all aspects of the photographic, fingerprint, and other related identification
tasks. The ID officer prepares photo lineups for other police agencies, as well as the deputies. It is also the responsibility of
the ID Officer to manage all fingerprints as it pertains to inmate records and civilian fingerprinting for adoption, firearm dealers,
passports, etc. The media is frequently in touch with the ID Officer to gather inmate photos for news broadcasts. Additional duties
of the Identification Officer are to manage all evidence submitted to the agency, as well as digital storage of all photos taken by
patrols and investigators. The lab has transitioned from standard chemical development of film to new digital images. Each cruiser
is equipped with a digital camera, which dramatically improves the number and quality of images being submitted. Requests for copies
of photographs by calling (207)947-4585 during regular business hours or in writing at the agency's address. Appointments
for the taking of civilian inked fingerprints must be made in advance by calling her at the above number. There is no fee for this
service.
Requests for release of evidence may be made directly to this division, but the investigating officer must approve the
release so not to affect any case being prosecuted. Supervisor, Identification Division - Sgt. Rose Mannette (207) 947-4584
