Chief Deputy Birch started his career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1991 working in the Corrections Division. In 1994 he was hired as a full time patrol Deputy and assigned to the Town of Glenburn. Chief Deputy Birch attended the Police Academy and graduated with the 81st Class. In 1996 he was assigned to rural patrol. In 1999 Chief Deputy Birch was assigned to the Detectives Division. In June of 2000 he was promoted to patrol Sergeant.
Chief Deputy William Birch was appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Troy J. Morton in 2017. The Chief Deputy is second in command of the entire agency and is directly responsible for the oversight of the Law Enforcement, Detective and Civil Divisions.
