Chief Deputy Troy Morton was appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Glenn Ross in 2003.  The Chief Deputy is the second in command of the entire agency and is directly responsible for the oversight of the law enforcement divisions.  Troy began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1988 when he was employed in the Corrections Division. He became a full time corrections officer in 1989.  Troy transferred into the Transport Division in 1990, then in 1994  he was promoted to Corporal of this division.  In 1996 his career path brought him into the Law Enforcement Division. From 1996 until 2000 he served as a Patrol Deputy, Detective.  In 2000 Troy was promoted to Patrol Supervisor, one of three Patrol Supervisors.

Today, in addition to being the Chief Deputy, Troy Morton is the leader of the Warrant Team. This team is trained to draft and execute search warrants, trained in the collection of evidence and crime scene processing in those cases involving drugs and/or elevated risk search and arrest warrants.
