Alternative Sentencing Information for first time OUI Offenders

The Alternate Program for First Offense OUI Offenders is an alternate sentencing option available to judges sentencing first offense
OUI offenders.
This is a community based program whereby the committed offender is sentenced to three (3) days in Penobscot
County Jail and approved for participation in a public works project pursuant to Title 30-A MRSA Section 1606.
The offender
is housed in either a local school or a community based facility for forty-eight (48) hours. During the course of the forty-eight
(48) hours; the offender will perform sixteen (16) hours of community service work and attend a seven (7) hour working seminar on
alcohol abuse and its effect on the Individual, the Family and Community.
Upon successful completion of the sixteen (16)
hours of community service work, the inmate will receive a one (1) day deduction off their sentence.
Pursuant to Title
17-A MRSA Section 1341 a jail reimbursement fee, of up to $125 per participant, will be assessed and MUST be paid, before the day
of the program, to the County Treasurer at the Superior Court Building, 97 Hammond Street, Bangor, Maine 04401.
