Penobscot County Jail’s Visitation Information

 

        An inmate is eligible for visits if they have been in this jail for more than 4 days.  All visits will be by appointment only on a first call first serve basis and you must be pre-approved.

 

        Prior to being able to visit an inmate, either for contact or non-contact, you must be pre-approved. Those wishing to visit an inmate must mail into the inmate a copy of a photo ID i.e. a license or a state ID, and for children please mail in a birth certificate which should be a copy because it will not be returned.  Allow 5 business days for approval, the inmate will be notified of persons who have been approved for visitations.  If you are not on the approved visitation list, you are not allowed to visit.

 

All visits must be set up in advance. 

 For scheduling visits, you must call 207-945-4932 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

 Do not call prior to or after those hours as the phone will not be answered

Visit schedule is as follows:

 

     Sessions are held 4 times a week:  Tues., Thurs., Sat., and Sunday evenings.  Tuesdays and Saturdays are visits for inmates with the last names beginning with A-L.  Thursdays and Sundays are visits for inmates with the last names beginning with M-Z.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are non-contact visits only.  Saturdays and Sundays are for non-contact and contact visits. 

 

     There are two (2) 1 hour sessions each night beginning at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., please plan to arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before the visits, as visitors will not be allowed to loiter on County property anytime prior to the visitation session.  If caught loitering on County property, the visitor will be asked to leave the property and will not be allowed to visit any inmate at PCJ for a minimum of 30 days.  A picture ID will be required when signing in for your visit.  A third and/or a fourth session will be scheduled if necessary. 

 The 8:15 p.m. session of contact visits on Sundays are reserved for protective custody inmates only.

      Maximum security inmates and those in disciplinary segregation are limited to non-contact visits only.  Certain other restrictions may apply to inmates in segregation and those will be explained to the inmates who will pass the information onto you.

 

      Inmates are limited to one visit per night and the number of visitors is limited to 2:  1 child under the age of 5 can accompany each visitor if he/she remains seated on the parent’s lap.  Once a session has started, no additional visitors will be allowed in.
